Thanks to the work of Coalition members who wrote letters of support, two Coalition-sponsored bills moved forward in the Legislature this week.
AB 637 (Campos), which would allow physician assistants and nurse practitioners, under a physician’s supervision, to sign the POLST, passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 7, on a vote of 10-0. This bill will be heard next by the full Assembly.
The Coalition for Compassionate Care of California is co-sponsoring this bill along with the California Medical Association.
SB 19 (Wolk), which would establish a statewide POLST registry, passed through the Senate Health Committee on April 8, on a vote of 9-0. It will be heard next in the Senate Judiciary.
Stay tuned, we might need your help again as this bill moves forward.
