It’s time to take another look at the care we provide to the pre-terminal and advanced elderly.
This webinar explores how to better recognize pre-terminal patients and the potential harm that can be caused by continuing traditional care.
Learn to:
- Identify markers of a pre-terminal patient
- Understand why over treating pre-terminal patients with traditional care strategies can cause harm
- Identify when a patient is at risk for cognitive or functional decline
- Understand the importance of identifying a patient’s values prior to traditional interventions, especially in the advanced elderly
Daniel R. Hoefer, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer of Outpatient Palliative Care at Sharp HealthCare. Dr. Hoefer talks about the importance of identifying a patient’s values prior to traditional interventions–especially in the advanced elderly–and when a patient is at risk for cognitive or functional decline.
I notice that MD’s do not get CME. does this mean this is not targeted to MD’s?
Ellen: Great question about CMEs!
We would love to provide CMEs for our trainings and webinars—-all of which are applicable and vital for educating physicians. Unfortunately, the CME application process is cost-intensive. However, we are actively searching for a partner organization to “sponsor” us as a CME provider so we can provide CMEs for more of our education opportunities.
Please stay tuned—-as soon as we are able to offer CMEs we will make an announcement through our email list.

P.S. If you know of a CME sponsor, please let us know!
Is there a chance to see this webinar at another time. If so, how is that managed?
Great question! Go ahead and register/pay for the webinar. After the webinar we send a video link to registrants to view for up to 30 days.
Keep in mind we can only award CEUs to people who are logged into the live webinar and participate and engage by asking questions. – Liz
