David Cogswell leads design strategy for The Holding Co., a design and innovation lab focused on women, families, and caregiving. The Holding Co. partners with startups, nonprofits, government agencies, and corporations to build compelling brands, products, and experiences that better support modern life. Originally trained as an opera singer, he spent his early career as a strategy consultant in Deloitte's social impact practice before completing his MBA at UC Berkeley. He was a director at the global design firm IDEO, where he led a portfolio focused on partnering with frontline workers to design workplace technologies and policies. He also launched local design teams at Google in Japan and India to build Search experiences tailored to those countries. Outside of work, he volunteers at multiple hospices across the Bay Area and sings in a variety of Oakland-based music groups.
