JoAnne Auger is the supportive care nurse coordinator at Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego in the Peckham Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders. She was instrumental in the development of the Peckham Center Supportive Care Program, helping to create a vision in which palliative care is embedded into the very fabric of the pediatric oncology treatment plan, allowing the delivery of services focused on quality of life, alongside aggressive therapies directed at cure. The parent of a childhood cancer survivor herself, Ms. Auger has a rare perspective regarding the burdens shouldered by families when a child is diagnosed with cancer.
