COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 2025 California legislative season ended at the end of September. CCCC has been tracking a number of bills at both the federal and state levels relevant to serious illness care and advance care planning. This members-only webinar will provide an update on important legislative actions, including likely impacts. We’ll also identify important policy developments and some emerging issues that will likely hit the docket in the new year.

Jennifer Moore Ballentine, MA
CEO, Coalition for Compassionate Care of California
As CEO of the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California, Jennifer Moore Ballentine monitors developments in the practice and policy of palliative care, including legislative and regulatory efforts that will support innovation and improve effective therapeutic interventions for persons suffering with serious illness and those who love them. Policy is an area of special interest for Ballentine, and she serves on several statewide and national workgroups focused on legislative, regulatory, and policy matters, including the Master Plan for Aging Sacramento Region workgroup, the California Department of Aging’s Elder and Disability Justice Coordinating Council, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Palliative Care Council, the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care Regulatory Taskforce, and the Patient Quality of Life Coalition.
OBJECTIVES
- List relevant legislative actions at the federal and state levels relevant to serious illness care.
- Describe key policy developments affecting serious illness care and advance care planning.
- Analyze impacts for providers and patients/families.
- Consider emerging issues for new year and new legislative sessions.
