PCORI E-Patient Ambassador Grant Project Concludes With Webinar And Guide

Personal experience – either as a recipient of palliative care or as a witness to missed opportunities for palliative care to improve a loved one’s quality of life – and the desire to make a difference by sharing that experience, motivated most of our e-Patient Ambassadors to participate in CCCC’s recent effort to raise awareness about palliative care.
CCCC’s innovative e-Patient Ambassador campaign, designed to utilize an authentic patient voice in promoting palliative care, recently concluded with a
free webinar featuring the e-Patient Ambassadors
and a published
Guide for Creating and Maintaining an Effective e-Patient Communications Campaign
.
The activities were part of a 12-month project funded through a Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® (PCORI®). They are part of a portfolio of projects approved for PCORI funding to develop a skilled community of patients and other stakeholders from across the entire healthcare enterprise and to involve them meaningfully in every aspect of PCORI’s work.
The project built on CCCC’s previous success working with engaged patients to promote their voice in health care. Over the course of the grant, CCCC supported the Ambassadors as they used social media and direct presentations to educate consumers about the benefits of palliative care and promote better access to care.
