The Art of Letting Go:  A Narrative Medicine Journey With Ketamine-Assisted Therapy

SESSION DESCRIPTION

This presentation will invite participants to explore the current gaps in addressing psychospiritual pain in the palliative and hospice care domains. We will demonstrate the safety and efficacy of homebased ketamine assisted therapy for people grappling with serious illness and approaching death. We will share work from a narrative medicine program gathering content and interviews in development of a curriculum that will serve learners in training to join interprofessional teams in palliative and hospice care.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Demonstrate the limitations of current mechanisms in palliative and hospice models to address psychospiritual and existential suffering.
  2. List three principles of psychedelic-assisted care.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of trends in psychedelic-assisted care and its relevance to their practice settings and patient populations.
