Rebuilding the Healthcare Workforce Pipeline Through Community Collaboration

SESSION DESCRIPTION

Healthcare is facing a critical workforce shortage, with nearly 1 in 5 nurses planning to leave by 2027 amid rising demand for home-based care. This session highlights Pathways to Care Careers (PCC), an early-stage initiative at By the Bay Health addressing workforce gaps through partnerships, exposure, and career pathways. Participants will explore local solutions, engage in dialogue, and identify collaborative strategies to build sustainable, community-based healthcare workforce pipelines.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Identify gaps in current workforce development approaches, particularly in community-based settings.
  2. Explore cross-sector strategies to build and strengthen workforce pipelines collaboratively.
  3. Develop initial, actionable ideas to initiate or expand workforce pipeline efforts in their own communities.
